Snow plows will hit the streets tomorrow

(LAWRENCE, KS) - Every year, the Street Maintenance Division conducts a
practice of the snow removal plan. For the 2002 winter weather season,
review of the plan will be on Tuesday, October 29. Employees from the
Street Maintenance Division will be inspecting equipment, locating the
required gear and traveling their assigned routes streets.

"Plow equipment and dump trucks will be out tomorrow reviewing the snow
routes. This practice allows us to refresh our memories and also
provide training to employees," comments Tom Orzulak, Street Division
Manager for the City of Lawrence.

The practice will begin at 7:30am at the Street Maintenance facility at
11th Street and Haskell Avenue and will conclude by 4pm.

Traditionally, the practice is held on the first Tuesday of November,
however, the wet weather is slowing the work that the Street Maintenance
Division can do on other projects, so the practice has been moved to
October 29.
