Downtown Task Force
Established by Resolution No. 6925, the Downtown Task Force shall develop recommendations to the governing body of the City of Lawrence regarding the City’s downtown, specifically focused on the following four issues:
- Retail vacancies and retail growth management
- Mix of retail and bar uses in the downtown area
- Event coordination with Convention and Visitors Bureau and the University of Kansas
- Support for the Arts in the downtown area
Among the issues the Task Force should specifically review is the feasibility of incentives for retail incubation in the downtown area with the goal of enhancing non-food service retail occupancies in downtown businesses.
