Re:  Kasold Drive15th Street to Clinton Parkway

Project No.:  14251.001

Dear Resident:

As you are well aware, the City of Lawrence is progressing towards the reconstruction of Kasold Drive between 15th Street and Clinton Parkway.  Bartlett & West has submitted the preliminary study to the City of Lawrence.  There are three issues that you need to be aware of as the project moves forward.

First, the preliminary study is available for viewing on the Public Works website.  The website for the Kasold Drive project is located at http://www.lawrencepublicworks.org/annc-kasold.shtml.  A link to the study is about half way down the Public Works web page.  If you do not have access to the website, you can review the preliminary study document at the City Library located at 707 Vermont Street, 843-3833.  The report will be available in the “Ready Reference” area, which can be accessed with assistance from the Reference Desk.  The study will be available for review only at the library and will not be available for checkout.  The report will be available in “Ready Reference” until December 1, 2004, then it will be transferred to the “City Documents” section of the library.

Second, Bartlett & West and the Public Works Department will review the preliminary study with the City Commissioners at a Study Session on October 6th at 8:00 AM in the City Commission Meeting Room at City Hall.  The Study Session will include a presentation by Bartlett & West to review the findings of the preliminary study.  In addition, the Commissioners will be able to ask questions to familiarize themselves with the study.  The Study Session is open to the public, so you are welcome to attend the Study Session.  However, public comment typically is not encouraged at the Study Sessions.

Finally, the preliminary study will be formally presented to the City Commissioners on Tuesday, October 12th, where public comments will be welcomed.  Presently, this date is tentative until the Commissioner’s review the preliminary study at the previously mentioned Study Session on October 6th.  However, it is anticipated that the City Commissioners will provide direction on how to proceed with the project at this meeting.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Joseph G. Caldwell, P.E.
