In an effort to increase Aquatic Division revenue for
budget year 2004, Lawrence Parks and Recreation recommends implementation
of a plan to increase the current rate of Monthly Swimming Passes and
Annual Swimming Passes on any every other year basis. We recommend
is an increase from $14.00 per month to $16.00 per month on Monthly
Swimming Passes for budget year 2004. We recommend that Annual Passes to
be raised from $128.00 per year to $135.00 per year for budget year 2004.These recommendations, based on 2002 sales, can be expected to result
in a revenue increase of $11,500, with little to no negative impact.
Information is presented indicating optional fee increases
to the Aquatics Division Discount Ticket Booklet, currently sold for
$30.00 per booklet. Proposals show possible fee increases, as well as
the resulting impact on the level of discount received by those members of
the community purchasing Discount Ticket Booklets. Additional revenue
generated from these proposed fee increases is also presented. We
recommend ticket booklets be raised to $32.00 for budget year 2004.
Future Budget Recommendations
Recommendations are made regarding future Daily Admission
Price increases in an effort to generate additional revenue for budget
year 2005. The Child admission rate, currently priced at $1.25, would be
raised to $1.75 per child visit for budget year 2005. This
recommendation, based on 2002 Child daily admission sales, can be expected
to generate $25,500.00 additional revenue. The recommendation is also
made to hold all other current daily admission rates at the current price
though 2005.
Information is presented regarding a Market Comparison of
daily admission rates for municipal swimming facilities in communities
similar to the Lawrence. This comparison of rates currently charged by Lawrence
Parks and Recreation Aquatics shows that Lawrence swimming facilities are
typically prices at, or below, the current market norm.
