Summer Moving

For many, the period from mid July to early August means it is time to prepare to move to a new apartment or rental property.

Due to high volume, the following dates are not available for termination or transfer of service; July 29, Aug. 1, Aug. 2, Aug. 3, Aug. 4th, Aug. 5, Aug. 6, Aug. 7, Aug. 8, Aug. 10 and Aug. 11. (Updated Aug. 8, 2005)

  • Discontinue Service

  • If you already have an account with the City of Lawrence, you need to arrange for service at your former address to be discontinued and a forwarding address provided to the City.
  • Transfer Service

  • If you are moving to another property in Lawrence, you can also arrange to have service at your new address transferred from your former address.
  • New Service

  • If you have never had an account with the City of Lawrence, you will need to request new service. A deposit is required for rental properties.

  • BY PHONE - call us at 785-832-3200 (at least 48 hours in advance of desired turn on date)
  • ONLINE - Submit an electronic application (at least 3 business days is required)
  • IN PERSON - visit us at our office on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 6 E. 6th Street. (at least 48 hours prior to desired turn on date)

In order to have your utility service available when you move into your rental property, it is important to make arrangements as early as possible. Don't wait until the end of July to initiate service for early August. To avoid going without water service, it is important you Contact Us as soon as possible.
